I gotta say I laughed pretty hard when I saw that. I do feel bad for the fellow, however. He was probably distracted by about a million things, nervous, and anxious... which made him blurt out the answer and "that's my final answer." I assume that aired yesterday, July 6, 2006? Wow.
She would have let him slide if he hadn't said both he and his wife were lawyers and had so much money that they could afford to take a year off to do nothing. People just hate lawyers.

In Australia the host doesn't let you lock it in if the answer is wrong for the first one....
Although, there was once when a guy was so insistant that he was right that the host let him lock it in and leave with $0. lol
Haha,
same goes for Germany's version. The moderator would try to "save" him for the first 3-4 answers.
Same in Italy.
The host helps a lot in the beginning.
How quickly did he say, "that's my final answer."? Still, host could have asked him if he was really sure.
